Q: mazda rx7?
i’ve been searching for a dealership that sells rx7’s, but i’ve only found rx-8’s.
does anyone know where i can get a new rx7?
do they sell them at mazda dealerships?
thanks[:

A: from Edmunds..

Though Mazda is currently producing a rotary-powered successor, the four-seat RX-8, many enthusiasts are still hoping the company will bring out an all-new RX-7. Though rumors have floated about, no official plans have been announced.

Q: Mazda RX7??
I am about to get a mazda rx7 93′ rs model, without an engine, with a fairly good price, i found a new engine to fit in…!
I know the car can prove problematic!! Anything i need to know? in particular please, thanks.

A: The FD’s (‘93 – ‘95) can be very finnicky in stock form. But there’s a lot of mods that can be done to make it more reliable. The stock motor setup is very complex with the dual sequential turbo system and all the strange emissions controls and such.

Check out www.rx7club.com and look in the 3rd gen tech section to get an idea of things you can do, there’s stickies at the top with tech details, and search reliability mods to get an idea of what you can do with them.

Once you get an idea of the common little issues to look for, you can quickly identify any problems before they cause a bigger problem, and it’ll be a great car. Those 3rd gens handle like they’re on rails, they’re a dream to drive. I’ve owned 12 RX-7’s (one 3rd gen, and around 5 or 6 2nd gens, and the same number of 1st gens)

Q: What do I need to do to swap a 1987 Mazda RX7 with a 3rd Gen RX7 engine?
I own a 1987 Mazda RX7 and bought the 3rd Gen 13BTT engine to drop into it. Has anyone done this yet that can give me some tips on what will have to be done to accomidate the new engine. I do have both the engine and tranny and some parts other than that that are ready to be dropped in but still trying to work out with the 87 body.

A: oh man they make
mazada frankenstein cars too
not just b16s and hondas anymore

Q: What is the difference between an R1 and R2 Mazda Rx7?
Ok here’s for all you Rotary and rx7 enthusiasts. I’m looking for an Mazda Rx7 and I was just wondering how can you ensure a car is an R1 or R2. I understand that R1’s are suppose to be faster, but what are the clear differences in them. Cloth seats and wing, I know those are but people usually do conversions to pass them off as an R1..so how can you make sure its worth that little bit of extra money.
also is the rear wiper model specific?

A: Well I never heard about R1’s and R2 models. What year RX-7 are you looking at?

Q: how do you install a push button start on a 1988 mazda rx7?
i have a 1988 mazda rx7 13b non turbo, and i bought a jegs push button start, and when i hook up the engine run wire (red and Black) it seems to fry the wire.

Q: What types of engines can go into a 1988 Mazda RX7?
My father has a 1988 Mazda RX7 that dose not have an engine. I wanted to know what engines I should look for to put into it. Its a manual Transmission . I’m not sure what else you would have to know about the vehicle to give accurate information but that you for the tips that you can provide me.

A: A small block Ford V8 fits in rather nicely, but the car was designed for the fuel-injected 6-port 13B rotary.

Q: What is the newest year of the Mazda RX7?
Hi I want to know what the newest yearof the mazda RX7 is because i heard that it is a great car to toon up. I plan on putting body kits on and putting turbos in if they dont come with it so please tell me which Mazda RX7 would be the best year and type to but. All feedback appreciate thanks. : )

A: They stopped importing to the US in 1995 but Mazda cut production of the RX7 in 2002. You may be able to find one after 95 but not cheap. RX-7’s from 92-95 hold a good value. A 95 that runs well and looks decent will cost around $11,000 minimum. The last generation is also one of the coolest looking cars out there. They are amazing cars and are totally worth it though.

Q: mazda rx7????????????
how long does a rotary engine only used on public streets last???

A: Depends on how it is taken care of.

Never buy a car with a rotary engine unless you know how to maintain rotary engines and the driving habits you need to own a Mazda RX.

It could last 30,000 miles or if it was taken care of, it could last 300,000 miles.

Q: what kind of motor oil should be used in a 1988 mazda rx7?
i have a 1988 mazda rx7 with 156,xxx miles. i live in california and its like a nice cool temperature. i dont know what kind of oil to be using in my car though.

A: DO NOT use synthetic oils in rotary engines. Rotary engines have an oil injection system which squirts small amounts of oil into the combustion chambers to lubricate the rotor’s apex and side seals. So you need to ensure the oil is as completely burnt off as possible to prevent deposit build up. Most Synthetic oils are specifically designed to prevent burning off, exactly the opposite of what you want.

A regular 5W30 grade oil is fine. Be religious about your oil changes. Do it every 3000 miles. This ensures the oil injection system uses clean oil.

Q: what do you consider the the mazda rx7,a tuner or a pacific muscle?
my jackass of a brother keeps bitching that a mazda rx7 is a pacific muscle. i say its a tuner.

A: The RX7 is a truly excellent car with plenty of potential, but against other Japanese cars which come into the Japanese Muscle class the RX7 is a tuner car, again not to say it is a bad car but fits better in the tuner class.

Q: What American engines fit in a 1987 Mazda Rx7?
I just bought a 1987 Mazda rx7 non turbo 5 speed 2 door coupe. I want to swap the rotory motor out. I know a chevy 350 will fit. But I would like to know what other engines would fit with out super modification. I would Love to go mopar ,But all other options are on the table.-

A: the 3.5L Mopar fits in there really well. It’s fuel injected and kicks out 240 HP. there are a lot of them sitting in wrecking yards as they where used a lot of the concords, and intrepid. shouldn’t require too many modifications. Mostly changing the motor mounts and fuel lines. re routing the heater and radiator hoses. A friend of mine did this swap 4 years ago on his 86 RX. thing runs like a raped ape now. I would also look in to the Buick 300 V8. It’s a very small block v8 (About the size of a 4.2L V6 engine) they produce around 300 HP and still give you that V8 sound. not sure what you would have to modify for that. Most likely suspension, radiator and you may need to notch the fire wall a bit. you could also look at a Mazda V6 engine to put in there. probably a cleaner swap then anything else. Hope this helps and good luck.

Q: What would win in a race between a 2004 mazda 3 and a 1986 mazda rx7 N/A, with intake, exhaust, and nitrous.?
What would win in a race between a 2004 mazda 3 and a 1986 mazda rx7 N/A, with intake, exhaust, and nitrous.
This would be done on a closed course or a track

A: I suppose it depends to which Mazda 3 engine you are talking about.

But i know that my friends Mazda 3 drives my friends mad as it is that slow and such a boring ride, they really want to sell there’s but stuck with it for a while.

Q: can you install a blow off valve on a stock 93 mazda rx7 engine?
i wanted to know if its possible to just buy a bov and install it onto a stock 93 mazda rx7 engine without addind tubes,…

and if u can buy headers for a rotary engine??
if u can where can i buy it?

A: Yes you can get and install an aftermarket BOV, your best bet is to go ahead and replace both BOV’s if you are already going to replace one.
As far as headers go, stay away from aftermarket headers, the stock headers for the RX-7 are already good, the best option is to go with a new exhaust system, i.e. High Flow Cats, with a new cat back exhaust.

Q: how much does a Mazda rx7 FD and Mazda Rx7 FC cost ?
im planning on buy a Mazda rx7 FD or FC if its no that expensive.i`m not sure how much it costs.

A: Before you even think of buying an FD or FC, do some research. I know of a lot of people who have no clue on what their getting into when purchasing one of these vehicles. Cost will vary and remember to keep up the maintenance, cause if you treat this car like shit it will do the same to you. I own a FD, and let me tell you its a pretty big commitment when it comes to an RX7 and try to have a back up car just in case if something goes wrong with rx7.
SO just do some research, go to sites like www.rx7club.com, but to answer your question, FC’s will go no higher then 10K unless its really modified and condition their in. FD’s will cost you more than 10K unless the cars condition plays a factor in the price but you never know you may get lucky and find one pretty cheap.

Q: I am looking to buy a 1987 Mazda RX7 Turbo II. Does anyone know of any problems these cars had?
I am looking to buy a 1987 Mazda RX7 Turbo II. Does anyone know of any problems these cars had? I am not talking about normal wear and tear though. I would like to know if the rotary motor had any special problems.

A: RX7 is a good car…. if they have not been in storage for a long time. the apex seals tend to “dry up” when left unused for long period’s of time…(months at a time) this is the #1 problem with this engine. Other concerns that you might run in to depends on where you live.. I.E. California or some other major city that has smog check. The rotary motor by nature does not burn clean. and they are $$$$$$ to overhaul to bring them back in to federal emissions requirements
