Q: Where is the Fuel Vapor Storage Canister on my 2001 Ford Escape?
I am having some emissions problems with my 2001 Ford Escape XLT 4×4 V6. We are doing a trial and error so to speak ourselves…the guy at autozone said to check the fuel vapor storage canister, can anyone tell me where it is? We have a picture of it but still can’t see to find it.
A: Off the fuel filler neck. Some of those evap codes are caused by an improperly sealing fuel cap…some of them.
Q: Where is the keyless entry code located in a 2009 Ford Escape?
I purchased a 2009 Ford Escape limited 3rd party and she did not know the code or have the manual. Is it inscribed anywhere in the car itself or do I have to go to a dealer?
Thanks
A: Its different for every car; you’ll have to contact Ford Customer Service or Roadside Assistance, which means you might have to visit a dealership.
You should always keep you manual, by the way.
Q: Why does my 2003 Ford Escape’s dash and rear lights stop working?
For the second time, my 2003 Ford Escape’s rear running lights and dash lights (odometer and clock are the only ones that illuminate) are not working again. Last time ( a month ago) we replaced a fuse (a 10 was in the spot where a 15 was supposed to be). The vehicle runs fine. Is it the fuse again or maybe something else?
A: my answer is try to check it out first on auto repair shop try to find what it’s wrong
Q: How do you replace the dimmer switch in Ford Escape?
I have a 2001 Ford Escape, I have the new part, how do I install the new piece on the steering wheel without deploying my airbag. I am clueless on the whole thing. Help please
A: Befofre you take another step, had to the library and read Chilton’s Auto Repair manual for your car. There is a method for deactivating the airbag so it won’t pop and knock the mess out of you. After you examine the book, then decide ifyou want to go through with this or if you’d rather have a professional do it who has all the necessary tools and skills.

Q: What does the XLS and XLT mean on the Ford Escape?
I own a Ford Escape XLT and would like to know what the XLT means. I also would like to find out what the XLS means even though I don’t own it. It is the same make and model, just a different badge.
A: The letters don’t really stand for anything.
they are just ‘trim’ levels
XLS is a base model
XLT is a step up & gives you more standard (& optional) equipment
Limited is top of the line with more standard equipment (& availability of more options)
Q: Is the ignition Coil pack the same as a coil pack for a 2001 Ford Escape XLS?
I have a 2001 Ford Escape XLS that is misfiring sometimes, and I was told to change the coil pack. Is this the same as the ignition coil pack? I have a new fuel pump, and a tune-up and the car is still misfiring. Please help.
A: Yes they are the same part. If all the tests have been done and point to the coil pack then do it. If not then look at other things like the EGR system
Q: how do i break into my 2006 ford escape?
I locked my only set of keys that I can find in my ford escape. Any Idea how I can break in?

Q: Can I repair a 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid myself?
I’m thinking of getting a 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid. I currently have a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo and have changed the alternator, starter, shocks, brakes, and thermostat myself. Can I make the same repairs on the Escape Hybrid? Are they as easy to work on as the normal Ford Escape?
A: Hi,
according to the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, you have certain rights to perform routine maintenance yourself on your own vehicle, allowing that you keep detailed and accurate records (receipts, logbook of maintenance, etc.), without voiding your original manufacturer warranty.
This is assuming you don’t cause any damage to the vehicle in the process or as a result of that maintenance, of course.
Beyond that, you are in murky waters replacing anything beyond your own oil, oil and air filters, brake pads, shocks, and tire rotations.
BTW, another poster mentioned using the best quality brake pads because they help recharge the nickel metal hydride (NiMH) hybrid battery.
Actually, the brake pads on the hydraulic braking system have nothing to do with recharging the NiMH. That is the function of the second electric motor/generator.
There are two electric motor/generators that provide the torque to move the Escape Hybrid. When the brake pedal is pressed, the second one reverses and turns into a generator to recapture energy as electricity for storage in the NiMH.
You will not be able to work on the entire hybrid system without the specialized diagnostic tools, analysis software and training to understand the hybrid system. This is not meant as an insult to you or anyone, this is just not simple work any more.
Remember the learning curve going from carbs and butterfly valves to computer-controlled, sequential fuel injectors? This is that, plus some.
Now, the good news is you don’t have to be as concerned about repairs on a hybrid vehicle like the Escape. Electric motors are much less prone to breakdown than mechanical pumps due to fewer total parts and less wear and tear from less internal moving parts. This is just not the old alternator powered 12 volt system any more.
There is a 12 volt system powering the lights and accessories, however, it is independent from the shielded high voltage NiMH one. Expect the 12 volt battery to last the equivalent of 5 years worth of driving (time or distance). The NiMH should last for 8 to 10 years worth of driving, at the very least.
So, they are like the standard Escapes in basics, but you actually have less to maintain due to the hybrid components durability and longevity.
Try Googling Escape Hybrid repairs/maintenance and look at what the experiences of other owners has been.
Good luck.
Q: How do I run an amp power wire for a 2007 Ford Escape?
I am wanting to run an amp power wire from the battery to the cargo area on my ford escape to hook up my old system but can’t seem to figure it out.
A: peel the carpet back by the pedals and look for a rubber boot through the firewall. run the power cord through there
Q: Can the dash around the stereo come off on a 2008 Ford Escape?
I’m looking at getting a 2008 Ford Escape and it didn’t seem like the dash could pop off where the stereo is so i can put a new stereo in. I guess what I’m tryin to say is can I get a new stereo put into a 2008 Ford Escape?
A: yes you can you just need to heavily mod the dash, I am running into the same problem. I think I will just cut it and if I mess it up that badly I will just order in a new dash and try again. To fill up the holes from the previous buttons, I play on cutting that out and inserting a storage bin or cutting it out and putting in some wood trim to match the rest of the car…still undecided, but doable.
I am a DIYer but u could pay some one else to try it, not sure how much that will be.
Q: What do you think the price of a 2005 Ford Escape Xlt with regular usage in 2 years?
ive been givin an estimate that my car will make it about 3 more years…and im looking into a 2005 ford escape. what do you think the price will be in a year or two?
A: A 2005 Escape Xlt should be in the range on $8,000-$12,000 in the next year or two maybe less if the miles are a little higher then average.. Try and deduct around 2000-2500 from current prices and that what you will pay in the next year or two!
