A: It should be,if this is the original motor, is 10w30, summer,10w40 or 50 winter(depending on your location). If it is a motor from the mid-80’s or newer it it should be a 5 weight

Q: I own a 1965 Ford Mustang coupe restored does anyone know how the heater works on one of these cars?
I cant see to be able to get the heater to work and I am wondering if I might not have hooked it up right but it worked before can anyone help me?
A: It’s a continuous loop and the heat is controlled by a door opened by the cable..
is there hot water flowing through the heater hoses? if not, they could be blocked in the core or someone left out the thermostat… it needs a 180 degree thermostat for the heater to work..
Q: How do i fix a blown head gasket on a 1965 Ford Mustang?
Water is coming out my tail pipe and the oil is milky, so how do i fix the head gasket or is the engine gone? How do i know if a head is cracked?
Coolant is coming out of the tail pipe.
A: I would recommend either buying or borrowing (some stores let you borrow, and some public libraries have them) a ‘65 Ford Mustang repair manual.
If the gasket is gone (it’s just a thin piece of insulating material), replacing it is a pain, but not all that expensive if you do the work yourself. You will need mechanics’ tools – which some stores will also let you use (AutoZone is one).
If the head is cracked, you would see more problems than milky oil. It’s probably not water coming out of your tailpipe, either. Get the manual or take it to a mechanic.
Q: how do the climate control levers work on a 1965 ford mustang?
I understand the fan speed lever which is left to right, there are 3 other levers which go up and down. one is marked heat,is heat at top or bottom, 2nd lever says temp, is cooler at top or bottom, 3rd lever is marked off, what is it for and is off at top or bottom.
A: pull the three levers down and the fan switch to the right for full heat and defrost.. .
Left is air for heater, down for on…Center is temp, up for cold, right is defrost, down for on.
There is also a knob under the dash for fresh air for driver, and on passenger side, open heater door for fresh air for passenger..
you can find this info in the owners manual and copies of it on ebay..

Q: Where are the Identification #s located on a 1965 Ford Mustang rear differential.?
I am trying to identify my differential exactly so I can buy parts for it.
A: there is a little metal tag that is usually on one of the bolts holding on the diff cover. if it’s not there there should be another metal plate welded on one of the axel tubes.
If both tags are missing Ford usually puts a sticker inside of the glove box.

and even if you know the standard engine color for the 1965 Ford Mustang inline 6, 200 cubic inch that would help alot but i would like to know how many of my car were made.
A: Cruise o matic was an option on your 65 in line 6, I assume your “coupe” is a fastback and not a hardtop? is your interior standard or deluxe?
I think the figures are not available with Ford going back to the first year, so you’d have to deduce your own estimate by eliminating what body style what interior etc but you’ll not be able to come up with any less than 5776 if its say a fastback with deluxe interior and that includes all engine options.

A: yes all engine options in the 65 mustang had a paper air filter element in side the air cleaner on top of the carburetor

Q: How do you remove a rear seat in a 1965 Ford Mustang?
A: you have to push down and towards the rear on the front part of the seat about 10 inches from the end to unlatch the metal strap of the seat from the floor bracket. its it a little tricky.

A: Not the 63 Comet. The 65 Caliente with the 390 or 66 with a 427 and 2 carbs. The 65 Mustang was a dressed up Falcon.
