Q: What are the cargo dimensions of a 2010 Honda Fit?
I am looking for the actual height, width and depth of the cargo area in a 2010 Honda Fit with the rear seats down. I have found that there is 57.3 cubic feet, but unfortunately that does not help. Before I buy the car I would like to know if my skis will fit in the back with the seats down, without bringing my skis to a dealership.

A: how long are your ski’s – i have an 07 and i bet i could fit 175’s in there

Q: Will the 2010 honda fit be considered as a sports car to insurance companies?
Thinking about getting one of these, but I’m a little worried that insurance cost is gonna be high since it’s a hatchback. It is a sedan with 4 doors though, would insurers still see it as a potential car that might be used for racing?

A: No way should ANY Honda be considered a “Sports Car” that’s laughable.

Q: 2010 Honda fit owners: think about getting one and wondering what you think about your car?
How well does the air conditioner work?

Have you put a cold air intake or exaust on it? If so have you noticed a difference in performance?

Anything else you would like to add would be great.

Thanks

A: Well, we own the 2008 Sport, but no mods. Doubt you would see any improvement, but that is my opinion of those kinds of mods in general. I don’t know what the other person is talking about with losing power with A/C, we live in the desert, use A/C a lot, and never have it “bog down.” As for how good is the A/C? The word “icy” comes to mind.

Issues I have found (that may not be issues to you): brakes are too touchy; carpet below clutch comes loose (I think starting in 2009 they put in a deadpedal foot rest standard); ground effects (skirts, front air dam) too low, always scrape curbs, no OEM armrest. No dealbreakers, they all can be (or already have been) fixed.

Our driving is almost exclusively highway miles, and we average 40MPG, with a low of 37 and a high of 45, so far.

Q: new 2010 Honda Fit, oil change interval?
i have a 2010 honda fit w/ around 5k miles on it at this point. the car tells me i have 50% oil life left, which i assume means i have some time to go before it tells me i need an oil change.

i’m used to changing the oil every 3k miles or so. is it safe to list to the car’s advice as to when it needs an oil change?

A: Don’t try to out-think the engineers, they put the oil monitor in for a reason. Sure, you can change your oil according to 1950s mythology, but you’d be wasting your money. Doing the basic maintenance as recommended by the engineers will still get 300k out of your Honda — doing extra oil changes may net you 50k more. Hardly seems worth the extra outlay, to me.

Both oil and engines have evolved drastically over the last 60 years, and the engineers have a pretty good idea about what the car really needs, and the car sensors do a good job of monitoring the oil. The manufacturer recommendation is to change the oil when the monitor gets to 15% (but before 0%), and the sensor will combine the oil change with other services, such as tire rotations, so you get one handy reminder and fewer trips to the mechanic.

Q: Help with rim & tire size on 2010 Honda Fit Sport?
I would like at least 18×8 rims. is that wide?

Like on the Lexus IS350 the tires are wide, I want something like that on my Honda Fit, any suggestions? in terms of rim size/tire size?
I might want to lower my car about an inch or two. maybe 3 if possible
I might want to lower my car about an inch or two. maybe 3 if possible

A: Well it can fit perfectly. Just choose the right offset of rims to avoid rubbing. Try using tires 215/40/18 or 215/35/18. Hope this help!

Q: Question about 2010 Honda Fit Sport Brakes?
My hubby and I just got a 2010 Honda Fit Sport in February 2010. Great vehicle, except the brakes are insanely loud. Keep in mind we both have mechanic experience (our fathers), but not on Hondas. Anywho we took it in yesterday, and they said there was no issue, and they fixed the “squeak”. On the way home the car was crazy loud still when we braked, and now we are seeing online that Fits are being recalled due to brake issues. We have a warranty with Honda and such, but we are concerned we made the wrong decision on the vehicle. Any one else have the same issue?

A: A lot of cars have some issues when they are brand new to the market. If you feel you don’t like the car, take it back. But if you like the car, and the only issue are the brakes, take it in to Honda for the recall, and keep it. Fixing the car if it has been recalled should be free, plus you still have a warranty for it.

Q: what size tires should i put on a 2010 honda fit with 17 inch rims, for the to fit comfortable?
i have a 2010 honda fit and i want to either 17 or 18 inch rims and i need to know if the 18’s will fit and if so what size tires they need and same with the 17’s

A: You can pair some 17 x 7-7.5″ rims with 205/45/17 tires and 18 x 7.5s with 215/35/18 tires. A 35 series tire for the 18s are not comfortable, I’d stick with the 17s if you are looking for a softer ride.

Q: Questions about buying a Sony sound system for my 2010 Honda Fit?
I am planning on purchasing a Sony sound system for my 2010 Honda Fit and I really don’t know much about car audio systems so I have some questions.

1) Do I need a sub, an amp, and speakers? Or just a sub? Or what?
2) Will the sub come with an enclosure? Or will I have to buy one separately?
3) How do I know it will all fit in my Fit? :-)
4) Can I take it to my local car audio shop and get them to install it?

A: dude, stay away from sony not worth it, at all. Get alpine or MTX audio, anything but just don’t get sony and dual.
some of my favorite brands
Kicker
Alpine
MTX
JL
audiobahn
JBL
Pioneer pro series – be sure to use a closed enclosure.
RE audio – sex series and above
Fi audio – SSD series and above
Cliff design
Ciwen Vaga – VMax and stroker
JVC arsenal

1. you need a new head unit, dish kit, wiring harness, all that – call crutchfield to see what you need.
2. you need is a sub, an amplifier, and the wiring kit, speakers if you really want to change them you can do it, otherwise stick with the market one’s.
3. the enclosure some subs come with it, some are not, either you can buy one, or you can build one on your own. 3/4 inch MDF wood.
4. measure up your trunk and find information about your can to see what size of speakers you have.
5. You could take it to your local car audio shop and get them hooked up.
will be expensive unless you know the person.

Q: How do i scroll through ipod when hooked up to 2010 Honda Fit?
I just got a 2010 Honda Fit, and I can hook up my ipod, but I cant seem to control the song selection. It only lets me go forward or backward through the songs, instead of scrolling on the ipod and lettiing me pick what i want to hear. This is when it is hooked up directly to the usb in the glove box. Is there a way to scroll on the ipod or use the dash to control song selection, other then just going forward or back?

A: I don’t have that specific car but with all the ones I’ve seen the answer is no. You can usually go forward and back through a playlist, check the mp3 tags and have direct access to the first six playlists but that’s it. There’s really no way to emulate a click wheel’s actions with the keys a radio/cd player has available…

Q: Do you know when the 2010 Honda Fit is released?

A: We have ours on order and being built at the end of this month. This should put them here the beginning of November.

The CARS program depleted the Fit inventory for us.

Q: Does the 2010 Toyota Yaris or the 2010 Honda Fit come with a sunroof?!?

A: Sorry but no.

A few Ford, Chevy and Chrysler models do though and they offer the much higher quality of American technology.

Q: Good deal on Honda Fit 2010?
Honda has it’s clearance now and we are thinking about buying new Honda Fit 2010. I’ll have to negotiate with dealers and get the best price possible, since we can barely afford it even with a low financing. What would be a bottom price for Sport automatic model? Invoice price is $18,010. Thank you.

A: Check kbb.com.
You can always find good auto info there.

Q: 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring or 2010 Honda Fit?
which one has more space? which one is better quality?

A: the Hyundai is bigger by 2 to 3 inches on every interior dimension, it also has a bigger engine and much better acceleration but that means less mpg 23 / 31 vs27 / 33

the Honda would have a higher resale value but ultimately, you’d get more car for your dollar with the Hyundai as well as a longer/better warranty

so do you want better acceleration or better mileage.

Q: Should I get the 2010 Honda Fit Sport or the 2010 Honda Insight?
I like how the Honda Insight is a hybrid – that means great gas mileage, and it also means that I am being kinder to the environment, something that is very important to me.

It is also important to me that I have a car that will last me for a long, long, long time. The fit isn’t a hybrid, and I know that the Fit’s technology has been tried and tested way more than the Insight’s.

At this point would a hybrid be more trouble than it’s worth? Should I wait until hybrid technology improves before diving in? Should I get the Fit, which I know I’ll be able to drive into the ground, or the Insight, which I’m a little less sure about?

I’m not a huge car person. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, guys!

A: If you enjoy getting great gas mileage then buy the Hybrid, but if you want a more spacious car with good fuel economy then get the Fit.

Goodluck

Q: Is the Honda dealer trying to rip me off? He wants $1,980 for a spare tire, for a 2010 Honda Fit?
The Automatic Honda Fit only comes with a tire repair kit, it doesn’t come with a compact spare tire. I told him that I would like to buy one and he told me “its not possible”, but he said he can go against the law and sell me one for just under 2 grand ! $2,000 just for a spare tire ?! He’s not joking and he won’t back down in price, not even $10 less.

Do spare tires for a Honda fit really cost that much?
I’m talking about those small donuts, not the full sized tires.

And please tell me, where can I get a compact spare tire that costs less?
I’ve tried wrecker’s yards to see if they have any tires from fits that might have been in an accident but nothing for 1,000 miles from Toronto in Southern Ontario, Canada.

A: I just checked e-bay. There is a 07-09 spare 14×4 (14 inch donut x 4 lug) for $50. plus $25 to ship in the US. I don’t know if that would fit your vehicle, but I would never pay $2,000 for a freakin donut.
Getting AAA for ten years and a brand new tire and matching extra rim wouldn’t cost as much!
